A COMPLETE CROSSING: FORT MASON PIER 2 HISTORIC RAILWAY & FOOTBRIDGE INTERSECTIONS is a site-specific bamboo, rope, and wire installation work that glimpses histories forgotten. By intervening an architectural bridge that was built to mimic just one of the two historic railroad tracks that intersect beneath it, the work inserts representation for the excluded track-- completing the intersection's echo. Positioned on a pier in Fort Mason, the U.S. Army's point of embarkation for troops to the Pacific for the Spanish-American War which directly led to U.S. colonization of the Philippines, the work attempts to imagine corrected narratives surrounding the hushed brutalities of the Philippine-American War and alternative ways of thinking about what is left out of history.
